Metropolitan Works Digital Manufacturing Centre will be opening a new digital technology suite with cutting edge equipment and a range of machinery unrivalled in the UK. Silversmiths and jewellers can arrange to have their work produced through the Bureau Service. The suite will have the following equipment:
- Metal laser sintering, EOS M270 Rapid Prototyping machine (with hydraulic surface grinder XYZ 1224)
- Wax Prototyping 4 axis bench top mill, Rowland Jewela
- 3 axis CNC mill
- Rapid prototyping machine, Envision Tec Perfecta
Bespoke Technology and Training Programme (BTTP)
Gold Works, Holts Academy of Jewellery and the Jewellery Industry Innovation Centre have joined forces to raise awareness of new technology and materials and provide CAD/CAM and skills training. Our aim is to engage, inform and educate designer-makers and manufacturers to help develop their business.
The project is made up of the following:
- Events: Four events a year outlining new techniques and materials; demonstrations of equipment; presentations from industry professionals, equipment suppliers and material specialists
- One-On-One Guidance: Assessment on how you can improve your business and advice on developing your skills
- Training: Introductory and taster courses followed by more specific intermediate and advanced courses, tailored to your needs.
- Networking: Meet others in the sector to develop a greater understanding.
- Award: An annual award ceremony sponsored by Domino, the UK’s largest jewellery manufacturer.
- Voucher Scheme: Redeemable across the partnership against taster sessions; bite-sized courses; access to workshop space, equipment and technical expertise; discounted Pay-As-You-Go sessions and bureau services.
